Highways England are to use intelligent road studs which light up in response to changing traffic lights at the Switch Island motorway junction in Merseyside in an attempt to improve safety for drivers. Aug 21, 2009 · Hi all I'm practising for my driving theory test and i'm struggling on remembering where the reflective studs on a motorway are positioned. Does anyone have any simple ways of remembering. The studs I need to know are green, amber, red and white. Any advice would be helpful, thanks people!

What are reflective studs? They are used on white lines on the road surface and are generally either white, red, amber or green. What is a slip road? Rule 259 of the highway code states: “When you join the motorway you will normally approach it from a road on the left (a slip road) or from an adjoining motorway.”

i've heard of blue studs being used on the M5 about 10 years ago , they were used to mark the police patrol ramps and emergency turn round points , had the catseye colour question asked in my hgv driving test 23 years , i only answered with red white amber green , got the question right
